Imphal, January 17 2014 : The 55th general conference cum sports meet of the Yang Raphei Association was opened today at Sihai Khunou within Chingai Assembly constituency by Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray.

Altogether 10 teams from different surrounding villages are competing in the sports meet which would conclude on January 22 .

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Preshow Shimray hailed the people living Yang Raphei area for their loving nature and magnanimity.

He exhorted the gathering to think of the society first before self.

"There is no question of the State Government neglecting Ukhrul district.

My appointment as the Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly testifies the fact", Preshow Shimray said.

There is a plan to construct a 33 KV power sub-station at Nungbi so that electricity is available all across Yang Raphei area.

Saying that forms have been issued for selection of National Food Security Act beneficiaries, Preshow Shimray asked the villagers to submit their forms in time.

He further informed that serious efforts are being put in to provide the benefits of the Act to at least 31,000 families of Ukhrul district.
