Imphal, October 16 2015 : Locals and Meira paibis of Sagolmang, Yumnam Patlou and Kwai staged a protest demonstration condemning the alleged brutal physical assault and monetary demand on Soibam Malemnganba.

Locals said that at around 2 pm of October 14, Soibam Malemnganba (32), s/o (L) S Yaima was abducted by unknown miscreants in a Gypsy from Yumnam Patlou Mayai Leikai where he runs a sugarcane juice stall.

He was blind folded and taken to an undisclosed location and beaten black and blue.

He was freed later in the evening at around 7.30 outside Hotel Imphal.

The unknown miscreants also alleged Malemnganba and his brother-in-law Saphaba of extorting Rs 4-5 lakh from various places and demanded the duo to hand over Rs 50,000 to them by October 21 without informing the matter to police and other individuals concerned, they said.

During the protest demonstration, local meira paibis urged the involved miscreants not to threaten and harass innocent civilians for personal interest.

The protesters also called upon the involved individuals/group(s) to come forward and clarify the matter within October 20 .
