Imphal, July 16 2024:
Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organization (MMWO), Meitei Pangal Council Manipur (MPCM), Golapati Educational and Social Culture Development Organization (GESCDO) and Golapati Hatta Youth Volunteer Organization (GHYVO) have urged the proscribed Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA) to review the list of drug smugglers and dealers published by the outfit on July 10 while reflecting on the inclusion of one Md Khamba from Borayangbi.
Speaking at a press conference held today at Golapati Hatta, Boboy Korimayum, president, MMWO lauded the proscribed outfit's initiative to stop all forms of illicit drug trade in Manipur.
However, he pointed out that local clubs, organisations and CSOs in Hatta have not found any record of Md Khamba from Borayangbi, currently staying at Hatta, being involved in drug trade.
The inclusion of his in SOREPA's list has caused him immense psychological trauma and smeared his reputation in society, continued Boboy.
Thus, he urged SOREPA to conduct a review of their list.
Additionally, Haji Arafat Ali, president, MPCM also echoed Boboy's appeal and termed Md Khamba's inclusion in the list as "unfortunate" .
