Imphal, July 16 2018:
JNIMS Director has clarified that five operation theatres are full operational at the lone State-run medical institute.
Out of six OTs opened since the establishment of JNIMS, five OTs have been functioning without any problem even though OT No 1 has been converted into post operative ward, said the Director.
As per records, 3855 major operations and 20514 minor operations were performed successfully at the five OTs between December last year and May this year.
During June this year, 19 operations were performed every day on the average.
The Government has been constructing seven new OTs and they have been completed by almost 90 per cent.
The stipulated period for completion of these new OTs is till November 8 this year and they have not been handed over to JNIMS yet.
Advertisement for appointment of a Professor to Forensic Science Department was issued in January this year but the appointment process was stalled after some people filed a petition at the High Court, said the Director.
Examinations for PG courses would be held in 2020 as per schedule and if any MCI team should visit JNIMS, they will come before the examination.
By that time, the vacant post of Professor at Forensic Science Department would be definitely filled up.
As such, there is no question of MCI de-recognising the Forensic Science PG Course, clarified the Director.
