Imphal, June 16 2021: A team of Yairipok police arrested a Rifleman of 8th Battalion Manipur Rifles from Tengnoupal Police Station gate on the charge of lifting a two wheeler moped from the front of a Masjid located at Yairipok Bazar on June 4 last.

According to police, the Rifleman was arrested based on a complaint lodged by one Md Farid Shah of Yairipok Bamon Leikai at Yairipok Police Station.

On checking the footage of a CCTV Camera installed near the Masajid, it was found that the vehicle lifter came in one A Star car, said police and added that during the course of investigation an information was received yesterday that the A Star car was seen at Moreh Bazar.

Saying that a team of Yairipok police proceeded towards Moreh and saw the car near Lokchao Bridge, the police continued that the car was intercepted near the gate of Tengnoupal police station.

The car was driven by one Md Tarique Ajij (30), s/o Md Abdul Latif of Sangaiyumpham Part-I who is currently posted at 8th Battalion Manipur Rifles, Chandel district, the police continued adding that Tarique Ajij disclosed that the crime was committed with one of his colleagues Md Nawaz of Urup.

He also revealed that the stolen two wheeler Moped is kept at his Sangaiyumpham residence.

Md Tarique Ajij was arrested on spot by observing necessary formalities while the two wheeler moped was recovered from the house of Md Tarique Ajij .

The arrested individual along with the vehicle has been handed over to Yairipok police station.

In a late report, it is said that police have arrested the co-accused Nawaz Khan (23) at around 9.10 pm.
