Legal awareness programme organised

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West incollaboration with Ya_All: The Youth Network, Imphal, under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), organised a One-Day Legal Awareness Programme on the topic, "The Rights and Entitlements of LGBTQIA+ Community Members and Related Supreme Court Judgments" at Chumthang Shannapung.

According to a release issued by DLSA Imphal West, the programme aimed to shed light on the legal rights, entitlements, arid protections available to the LGBTQIA+ community, and provide an understanding of related Supreme Court cases, ensuring that the rights of this marginalized group are respected and upheld.
The session included interactive discussions, legal insights, and case studies that addressed the most pressing issues faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in terms of their legal standing and societal acceptance.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Yumkham Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West, and Chairman of DLSA, Imphal West.
It was led by Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, and Secretary of DLSA, Imphal West.
Resource person of the programme, Ld Advocate Meihoubam Rakesh, Director, Human Rights Law Network (Manipur), deliberated on various subjects related to the topic.
Staff of the MASLSA, DLSA and members of Ya_All: The Youth Network, Imphal participated in the programme.
The session not only raised awareness but also fostered a sense of inclusivity and mutual respect.
The programme was followed by a friendly football match, which symbolized unity, sportsmanship, and a shared commitment to equality and human rights for all members of society.
