Farmers' training prog held

A one day farmers' training programme organised by the district agriculture officer, Imphal East district under the supervision of RKVY was held today at Moirang Kampu Shajeb Makha Leikai.
The programme was presided by Th Yaiskul Singh, Imphal East sub divisional agriculture officer as chief guest, H Madhumangol Singh, extention officer, Imphal east 1 as guest of honour and Moirang Kampu Shajeb Makha Leikai's resident N Pakchao Singh as president respectively.
Yaiskul Singh, in his speech, underlined the main objective of the training session.
He said, the programme is aimed at providing awareness on the methods of increasing production and educating the farmers about the side effects of using excessive fertilizers.
He further stated that the major cause of the declining food production could be attributed to our farmers' ignorance on the proper use of chemical fertilizers.
He, therefore, expressed that the farmers should interact with experts beforehand.
The programme's resource persons Th Nimaichand, incharge plant health clinic, director of agriculture and L Sanatomba, deputy project director, ATMA Thoubal further spoke on the ways to protect paddy plant from disease prone germs.
They further explained the means to increase fertility of the soil emphasising on the proper ways of using chemical fertilizers.
The programme concluded with a free distribution session of hybrid seeds and micro nutrients to 50 farmers who attended the training programme.
