Awareness campaign against rampant use of illicit substances organised

Imphal, January 15 2022: As a part of the ongoing Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA)'s campaign under the theme 'People's responsibility in curbing the consumption of illicit substances during election, a public discussion was organised today at Keirao Tarungmakhong Lampak.

The discussion session was attended by Mutum Sakhi, meira paibi leader, Ningthoujam Memchoubi, president, CADA Imphal East District Committee, Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA as the presidium members, said a statement by CADA while Geetchandra Mangang, Secretary General, CADA attended as the resource person.

Speaking on the occasion, Geetchandra Mangang expressed concern over the rampant use of illicit substances in the State and elaborated on the various reasons why one resorts to taking such illicit substances with no concern about the adverse impacts on their physical and mental well being.

He further stated that even the society seemed to have accepted this ongoing trend where use of illicit substances has become a part and parcel of daily life which is really unfortunate.

It may be noted that CADA has been organising awareness programmes, public meetings and discussions, camera meetings and so on to sensitize the public about their role in curbing the consumption of illicit substances in view of the rampant use of such substances in connection with the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
