'Neat' Festival concludes at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, December 14 2019: The three day North East Agro-Business Trade (Neat) Festival 2019 concluded today at Mission Alungtang, Ukhrul.

Executive Member, Ukhrul Autonomous District Council ( UADC) Paothing Vashum who attended as the chief guest of the valedictory functions lauded UDCRMS- NERCORMP, Ukhrul for hosting Neat Fest at the district for the first time.

It has provided a platform for the farmers to exhibit and sale their produces, apart from allowing them to interact with the farmers from other North East States who also participated in the festival.

NERCORMP toiled hard to bring about changes in the rural economy by empowering the farmers of North East States, especially those living in far-flung areas by enhancing their farm produces and providing them with basic amenities.

District Project Director, Ukhrul Lily Rose said that Neat Fest is very important for the NERCORMP families, that include 10 districts of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

She further mentioned all the 70 stalls opened sold all their products on the last day.

According to the report of Business Development Officer, NERCORMP Ukhrul, 17 NaRM-G Cluster Associations and SHG Federations took part in the farmers trade fair competition and based on the quantity and the varieties of their products, numbers of footfalls in stall, sales of their products and the farmer's knowledge and concepts for promotion, the result was declared.

Reika Cluster Association was declared a winner of the competition while Phila SHG Federation and Kahor SHG Federation were placed second and third positions respectively.

It might be mentioned that SHGs from Meghalaya, Churachandpur and Chandel also participated in the Neat Fest.

Musical show, cultural dance competition, sales and exhibition of the farmer's products were the main events of the three days event.

Neat Fest, which was celebrated under the banner "Witness the richness of North East" showcased the Agri-horti produces of the North-Eastern region and also facilitate linkage between the producers-buyers-financial institutions and agencies like NERAMAC, CBTC, NeDFI, FSSAI, Trade and Commerce etc.

Mementoes and souvenir were distributed to all the participants of the Neat Fest 2019.The festival was organised by UDCRMS- NERCORMP, Ukhrul under the sponsorship of North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER.
