Imphal, October 13 2015:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) celebrated its 17th foundation day at Konjeng Hajari Leikai community hall today.
AMUCO advisor KT Rahman, COHR chairman Phulindro Konsam and MSF president Kh Serajuddin graced the occasion as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
In his speech, KT Rahman said that Manipur became a part of the Indian Union after Maharaja Bodhachandra signed the merger agreement under duress in Shillong on October 15, 1949 .
Saying that people must deliberate on the present condition of Manipur as a State of India now, KT Rahman said that different ethnic groups have now started making different demands after the Government of India signed SoO and ceasefire agreement with different groups.
Maintaining that many of these demands are detrimental to the territorial integrity of Manipur, KT Rahman observed that it would not be right to break the State into pieces.
The peace accord signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become another reason for discontent of the people of Manipur.
People also do not believe BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba, who has claimed that he had met Naga peace talks interlocutor RN Ravi and no step which is detrimental to the territorial integrity would be put into effect.
Regarding MSF, KT Rahman said that the students' body has been leading from the front in many social issues.
Phulindro Konsam said that students form an important section of the society.
There is need to seriously study the history, origin and people of a country to strive towards advancement, he said.
Kh Serajuddin said that MSF has been successfully carrying on its academic campaign, 'Eikhoi lairik ningthina tamsi' (let us study properly) with like minded organisations since 2006 .
He also sought support from the public in bringing a change in the society.
