Imphal, July 13 2019:
Taking a dig at the 'success' claim of the Army under Operation Kekru Naga, the NSCN (IM) today that it is delighted to learn that the Army is celebrating the recovery or 'stealing' of arms and ammunition from the camp of the NSCN (IM) instead of harassing the innocent villagers.
In a statement the NSCN (IM) also claimed that Thailikpou Panmei who was arrested by the Indian Army is a deserter and thus terminated from service on June 10 .
There is no connection between him and the stolen arms and ammunition whatsoever, claimed the outfit.
What is most painful of the operation is the involvement of many hands as part of the smear campaign to put NSCN in a bad light, said the statement and alleged that the Army has presented unfounded allegations to the media to defile the political sanctity of NSCN.
"We deplore this kind of desperate attempt to undermine the NSCN at this time when Indo-Naga political negotiation has entered a critical stage," it added.
Twenty two (22) years is a long period for NSCN to be negotiating with the Government of India for a lasting political settlement.
NSCN has come a long way spearheading the Naga people's movement for their legitimate political and National right, said the statement and added that no hardships are too big for NSCN to bear.
It is however, a matter of great indignation when insincerity is reflected on the part of the Government of India by way of inciting divisive issues in the States of Nagaland and Manipur or Assam, said the statement.
Such retrograde options are not going to help the Government of India in solving the vexed Indo-Naga political issue, it added.
