'Qualitative training for unemployed youth crucial'

With the objective of providing employment to unemployed women in the hills to boost their economy by making them skilled persons, Manipur Creations, Takyel Industrial Estate, Imphal West in association with Tata Trust and Tamenglong Headquarter launcheda35 days long skill development programme on 'Garment Making' at its office today.
Altogether 50 women trainees from Tamenglong district are participating in the skill development programme.
The launching programme was graced by PK Singh, Principal Secretary (Labour), Koijam Vasunraz, proprietor, Manipur Creations and Worshang Hung, DC, Noney as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, PK Singh underscored the need to impart qualitative training to the unemployed youth in the State in order to minimise the unemployment problem in the society.
He noted that the quality of training matters a lot in generating employment and observed that efforts to minimise the unemployment problem will not bear fruit if the quality of training is compromised.
He asked the trainers to impart knowledge to the trainees in the best possible manner.
He also urged the trainees to take part in the programme regularly and sincerely.
Assuring that the Government is ready to extend all possible help to the training programme if need arises, he encouraged the trainees to take maximum benefits from the training course.
He added that he would like to see the ventures of the trainees after they gain skills from the skill development programme.
Worshang Hung opined that making women of the State self reliable and self sufficient is very important to uplift the gender in the strife-torn State.
Pointing out that many women in the State, particularly in the hills have very low income generation as many of them are confined to households works, he lauded Manipur Creation for coming up with the skill development programme in association with Tata Trust and Tamenglong District administration.
She maintained that the training programme can be tied up with several other related schemes of the Government at its later stage of seeking income generation if trainees possess qualitative skills and meet the required criteria.
Exuding confidence that qualitative skill development programmes will go a long way towards booming the economy of poor and needy people in the State, the DC observed that there is a need for expanding such programmes in other districts too.
Vasunraz claimed that the training programme is unique as it intends to impart knowledge to the trainees on broader perspectives of the working system of a factory.
Stating that merely learning how to stitch or design clothes is not enough for a skillful garment maker in the present age, he pointed out that a qualified garment maker should have at least the basic knowledge of the working system in a factory.
He informed that Manipur Creations aims at tapping potentials of human resources in financial crunch areas by providing suitable jobs to the locals.
He observed that the unemployment problem in the State could be reduced to a great extent and the poor economic condition of the State could be improved significantly if entrepreneurs and small scale industries work hand in hand.
