Awareness camp held

Lions Club of Leimarol Imphal in collaboration with 12 Bihar Regiment of 9 Sector AR under IGAR(S) and Human Resource Development Academy, Ghari conducted a one day awareness camp on women's issues focusing on crimes against women today on the occasion of the 137th birth anniversary of Melvin Jones, founder of Lions Club International.
The programme provided a platform for interaction among the young boys and girls of the school about the various forms of harassment, their rights, preventive measures and drove home the point that both men and women have to work together to fight violence against women, according to a statement.
Speaking at the occasion, Lion P Rajmani also spoke on Lionism and various programmes of Lions Clubs International.
CO of 12 Bihar Regiment expressed hope that this noble initiative with the army and civil society would help in the progress of women in the changing dynamics of today's volatile society.
Lt Akhil Dhawan, Nonibala Narengbam, Premlata Thokchom and Nandini Thockchom spoke as the resource persons.
Lion Kh Manihar Singh, Region Chairperson, Cabinet members of Region X, Lions Club International 322D attended the function as well.
A special medallion was also presented to the best student of HRD Academy by Bihar Regiment of 9 Sector AR under IGAR(S) .
