Imphal, February 12 2022:
Education Minister S Rajen who is contesting the ensuing election on BJP ticket in Lamsang AC has categorically stated there is neither any error nor any forged document/certificate in his nomination papers.
Speaking to media persons at his Salam residence today, Rajen said that he would withdraw his candidature without waiting for the RO to reject his nomination papers if any of the certificates attached to his nomination papers is fake.
It is rather unfortunate that four candidates who have filed their nomination papers in Lamsang AC namely; Manibabu, Sumati, Kanba and Karnajit have been floating a number of false propaganda among development oriented people who wish to vote for BJP.
"Affidavit is a very important document.
As such, I filled up all the columns and made a declaration regarding my properties.
After checking the affidavit and all the attached documents, the RO accepted my nomination papers", Rajen said.
"The questions raised by Manibabu Likmabam and P Santi regarding the authenticity of my BA Second Year certificate issued by Manipur University in 1988 and Matric certificate issued in 1980 can be ascertained through RTI application or through direct investigation", Rajen asserted.
Rajen said that his age as per the affidavit he submitted for the 2017 general election was 52 and this time it is 57 .
"My date of birth as entered in my Matric certificate is 1965.If the certificates issued by MU and the board are said to be incorrect, one should know whether it is the MU and board authorities or me who is culpable", Rajen continued.
Appealing to all the people of Lamsang AC not to take in false propaganda, Rajen said that he would file a defamation suit against Manibabu Likmabam on Monday for calling him (Education Minister) a thief.
Maintaining that many columns of the nomination forms submitted by Manibabu, Sumati, Kanba and Karnajit were left vacant, Rajen said that he has filed objection petitions against all four of them and necessary legal action would be initiated soon.
