LDA Chairman calls for collective effort to save Loktak Lake at book release ceremony

Loktak Development Authority Chairman M Ashnikumar Singh has called for joint efforts to save the Loktak Lake.
He was speaking at the book release ceremony of Loktak Yaibirel written by Haobijam Chaoba Singh at Phouoibi Community Hall under Thanga AC today.
The book release ceremony was organised by the Environment Social Reformation and Sangai Protection Forum (ESRSPF) .
The event was graced by M Ashnikumar Singh, Chairman, Loktak Development Authority, Government of Manipur as the chief guest; Ningthoujam Yaima Singh, president, ESRSPF, retd Deputy Director ICMR and founder of Times School, Thanga as the functional president and Oinam Ibojao Singh, Kha Thinungei Zilla Parishad Member; Dr Kh Shamungou Singh, wild life and environmental activist; Y Jugeshore Singh, retd Principal, Kumbi College, Kumbi and social worker National Awardee O Maipakchao Singh as the guest of honour.
Eminent personalities from different fields also graced the dais.
It may be noted that the author Haobijam Chaoba Singh is the retd Headmaster of Leibul Model Primary School and is a founder member of many organisations.
Loktak Yaibirel was produced/published by Haobijam Bidyarani Devi, Assistant Teacher Keibul Atomyaima Junior High School.
After the book was released, Y Jugeshore Singh gave an introduction of Loktak Yaibirel to the gathering.
Addressing the gathering, M Asnikumar said that a book based on the Loktak Lake which is deeply intertwined with the history and culture of Manipur will prove to be very beneficial to young students and scholars.
The State Government is also leaving no stones unturned to conserve the lake.
However, the Loktak Lake cannot be conserved based on the efforts of the Government or certain organisations alone.
It requires collective efforts from the residents settled around the lake, said the LDA Chairman.
Thus, he hailed the release of Loktak Yaibirel and appealed for joint efforts to help save the Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao and the Sangai.
