Imphal, September 11 2019: Manipur Governor Dr.Najma Heptulla extends her heartiest and best wishes to the people of the State, especially our Jain brethren on the occasion of Anant Chaturdasi which is observed as 'Vegetarian Day' on 12th September, 2019 .

In her message said that 'Ahimsa' or Non Violence/non injury is a fundamental tenet of Jainism and it believes that one must abandon all violent activity and without such a commitment to non- violence all religious behaviour is worthless.

Observance of the 'Vegetarian Day' has followed this ethos and with an objective to promote and disseminate message among the masses about the merits of leading a vegetarian life.

In the highly advanced society of today, more and more people are showing preference for a vegetarian food habit as it has been proven to have less health issues.

People are getting converted into vegetarians as vegetarians diets are amongst the healthiest diets for human being's physical mental and spiritual development.
