UG cadres sent to police custody

The Session Judge NIA Court Imphal West has remanded two active cadres of PLA/RPF who were arrested along with a .22 pistol and 75 live rounds of ammunition by a team of Special Commando Unit Khabeisoi from Senjam Chirang yesterday to police custody till August 18, today.
The arrested active cadres of RPF/PLA identified as Thoudam Bisharup Meitei (39), s/p (L) Th Thoiba Mamang of Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai and Usham Sarat (47), s/o (L) Usham Gandha of Senjam Khunou were produced before the Court by a team of Sekmai police along with a prayer to send them to police custody for 9 days.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the two persons to police custody till August 18 .
According to sources, the police received reliable information from the 4 Assam Rifles regarding the presence of some active members of a banned underground outfit at Pheidinga area who planned to carry out anti-social activities ahead of the Independence Day celebration.
Acting on the information, the special commando unit of Khabeisoi rushed to the area and started a frisking operation during which Thoudam Bisharup Meitei was arrested from his house at Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai while U Sarat was arrested from Senjam Khunou.
On checking, one unregistered small arm was seized from Thoudam Bisharup Meitei along with 75 live rounds of ammunition and a magazine.
As per the sources, Bisharup Meitei revealed that they planned to collect money from the public and businessmen for their organization (RPF/PLA) under command of one self styled colonel of the outfit Dilip Leisemba of Kongba Khunou.
They were handed over to Sekmai police Station yesterday evening.
