Imphal, August 11 2015 :
Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has strongly decried the alleged negligence of the State Govt to fix power supply problem in Tamenglong district.
ZYF said Tamenglong district has been 'blackened out' for more than one month.
The front warns of intense agitation if authorities concerned fail to set things right at the earliest.
In a statement, ZYF stated that the people of the district are kept isolated by cutting off basic requirement like power supply.
The power supply failure adversely affected the functioning of United Bank of India and it has almost brought down all the administrative works to a halt.
ZYF said that this incident is a glaring example that the Government is not giving importance to the people of Tamenglong.
ZYF also mentioned many cases of State Government not showing concern for the people.
It said the District Secretariat has been lying to rot despite being inaugurated five years ago.
The horrible condition of 39 kms-long Shangrung (Khongshang)-Tamenglong road, the reluctance of the Government specialist doctors to come even for a weekly rotational posting, failure to appoint full time SP, functioning of many departments from Imphal, shifting of Court of CJM to Imphal for the last ten years etc are some grievances highlighted by the ZYF.
ZYF accused that these are the well-calculated policies of systematic exploitation on the part of the State Government in order to keep away the people of the district from seeing the light of the day.
The front also reminded the State Government on its promise to link Tamenglong district with Jiribam and Imphal through helicopter service, which it made about five years back.
The Government then announced that it had even started talks with Hans Corporation, which provides chopper service in some other States, and assured that the service will be launched soon.
ZYF questioned the Government whether the plan is still intact and where have all those promises gone.
ZYF also warned that if the power supply failure problem is not solved soon and if all other issues are not addressed, it will resort to intense forms of protests and agitation against the State Government.
