With an armed group owning up the arson an oil pump here, the three student bodies that has issued a joint press statement condemning the incident has today seeks to set the record straight saying a relatively unknown group KNLA has served monetary demand to the oil pump and their claims of committing the crime due to an adulterated fuel was just a camouflage.
The KNLA, and not KNLF as published in today's issue has claimed through some local dailies that they have committed the arson as the pump is selling adulterated fuel despite their warning.
A statement jointly issued by three student bodies - the HSA Churachandpur, TKSU Gen Hqtrs and KSO Churachandpur - has said, following the claims of KNLA they have investigated the matter thoroughly and have come to the findings that the group had served monetary demand of a specific amount to Tuibuong Service Station and the failure to realize the same led to the unwarranted act of arson and vandalism on the night of 8 July.
Their allegations of selling adulterated fuel are devoid of any truth or substance but a mere fabrication of lies and a desperate attempt to save their face for having placed the lives of many local residents, it added.
They have also appeal on all stake-holders irrespective of their affiliations to create conducive atmosphere for business; and refrain from making undue demands or unprovoked attacks of any business establishments in the district.
It appeal on the KNLA to detest from such act and demanded that it unconditionally apologise to the public for putting innocent lives at great peril.
