Faculty Development Programme kicks off

A two-weeks Faculty Development Programme on "Augmenting Teaching Management Skills using Innovative Technologies" began today at the Conference Hall of College of Agriculture (CoA), Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by CAU, Imphal, Vice Chancellor, Dr Anupam Mishra; Director of Instruction and Course Coordinator, Prof Indira Sarangthem; Director of Research, Dr LM Garnayak; Dean, College of Food Technology, Imphal, Dr Ng Iboyaima and Course Co-coordinator, Prof N Brajendra Singh as presidium members.
The programme was also attended by all Head of Departments, Deputy Directors and officials of CAU, faculties, scientists and staff of CoA.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof Indira Sarangthem highlighted the importance of organising the Faculty Development Programme and added that such a programme is needed to reorient the faculties & scientist to the latest tech based platforms and developments in the field of teaching management which is one of the primary responsibilities of the faculties and scientists.
She also expressed hope that the training programme will enhance the teaching competency and pedagogical skills of the participants as well as increase their knowledge on the basics of administrative and financial management.
Dr Anupam Mishra said that higher teaching is an ethically and intellectually demanding profession requiring rigorous preparation and opportunities for continuous professional development along with academic and professional support.
The VC continued that development and implementation of a high quality Faculty Development Programme for faculties of CAU, Imphal is one of the major focus of the University.
He also stressed on the importance of updating knowledge on the latest technologies and AI tools, and being well equipped to face future challenges.
Dr LM Gamayak and Dr Ng Iboyaima also emphasized on improving teaching learning techniques and encouraged the participants to focus on writing good papers and try to receive patents grants for new inventions so as to contribute to the ranking of the university.
Altogether, 31 faculties/scientists from the constituent colleges of CAU, Imphal are participating in the Faculty Development Programme.
