Imphal, September 10 2014:
The Centre's intervention regarding deployment of State forces in different districts of Manipur to maintain normal law and order situation in different districts of the State is not appropriate.
It must be solely a part of State administration efforts to bring back normalcy in the State, said spokesperson of Trinamool Congress Committee, P Premananda.
While giving his statement in a press meet held at Moirangkhom office of the TCC, P Premananda asserted that the recent NSCN (IM) attacks which claimed the life of a commando personnel and caused serious injury to two others were carried out while the commando personnels were heading out from Ukhrul District following the Union Home Ministers' withdrawal order.
Stating that whatever happened was very unfortunate, he exclaimed that the law and order situation in Ukhrul District is such that the cadres of NSCN (IM) move freely in their uniform and the forces of Assam Rifles and the Indian Army cannot do much about it.
He asserted, "the Centre has not taken up any action after NSCN (IM) cadres have ambushed Manipur Police Commandos and claimed the life of a commando personnel and causing severe injuries to other two personnels.
The Centres' silence on the matter clearly implies that Manipur is in a state of ceasefire.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Gaikhangam must resign bearing responsibility of what have happened so far.
The State Government shouldn't have pleaded the Centre to take a decision on the State law and order situation, in the first place.
The State Government must understand that the Centres' decision of withdrawing the additional forces from Ukhrul was an act of consolation to the NSCN (IM)" .
"TCC will never accept if the unity and territory of manipur is disturbed due to the peace talks between the Centre and the NSCN (IM).
The Centre must resolve the peace talk at the earliest, as the unity and territory of the State is at stake", said P Premananda.
The BJP State Unit's demand for revocation of CrPC 144 and withrawal of State forces from Ukhrul when the situation at the district headquarter was not conducive enough was condemnable.
The BJP Government at the Centre should clarify on the ambit of the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and NSCN (IM).
The BJP State Unit should not feed any false or misleading information to the Centre, he added.
Talking about the ILPS issue, he asserted that act of disrupting the meeting of the JCILPS by Additional SP (Traffic), Y Victoria, deserves outright condemnation.
Premananda further demanded that the State Government take up prompt and effective measures which can resolve the issue of ILPS satisfactorily.
