Senapati, May 09 2016:
The Naga People Front, Manipur State unit in a statement has stated that it did not participate in the all political parties meeting convened by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The meeting convened by CM Manipur today is just to shift the responsibility and blame others.
The GOM under Ibobi Singh failed to understand the sentiment and interest of the people.
Justifying its stance on ILP issue, it claimed that, the NPF MLAs of Manipur have tendered resignation in protest against the three 'anti-tribal' Bills and Government resolution passed on August 31, 2015.The party has clearly pointed out that the Assembly did not follow the rule of procedure and conduct of business in Manipur Assembly.
The hill people have clearly spelt out the three bills, namely protection of Manipur People's Bill 2015, MLR LR (Seventh Amendment) Bill 2015, Shop and Establishment (Second Amendment) Bill 2015 are against the interest of the tribal people.
The Bills are an attempt to distort article 371 C of the Constitution of India.
As per Hill Areas Committee order 1972 paragraph 4, sub-para 1 and 2, any Bill that affects hills should be referred to the Hill Areas Committee.
Some of the political leaders failed to understand the rules and said that MLAs elected from hill areas were present in the Assembly at the time of passing the Bills.
Everybody should know that there is special provision in the Indian Constitution under article 371 C which clearly empowers the Hill Areas Committee to discuss any proposed Bills if it affects hill areas.
The present Government's policy to appease and safeguard the interest of only a section of people will only lead to serious communal misunderstanding.
The all political parties' decision to go to Delhi to put pressure on the President of India is a wrong step because the solution is not in Delhi but the solution is within the State.
As long as Government of Manipur ignores the sentiments of the people, the problem will never be solved but will lead to more serious problems in the State.
The Naga People's Front Manipur will continue to oppose until the Bills are withdrawn, it added.
