Women's convention at Deulalane

Imphal, April 09 2013:
A one-day women's convention on 'protection of Child Rights', themed Redefining Women's Roles for Protection of Child Rights was held at the Dewlahland (Kabo Leikai) office of Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti today.
Former chairperson of Manipur State Women's Commission Dr Ch Jamini Devi, who graced the event as the chief guest, reminded that mothers play the most important role shaping a child's future.
Calling upon the mothers to be impartial in their affection towards the children, she cautioned that the slightest hint of discrimination would cause mental distress among the children.
Dr Jamini also prevailed upon the mothers to fight against discrimination of
the girl child.
Samiti president S Sharaju Devi and Sessions judge (Retd) Kh Gomti also spoke as inaugural session delegates.
In the Technical Session of the convention held with Public Prosecutor Ng Tejkumar as the moderator, NCPCR State representative K Pradipkumar deliberated on 'magnitude of crimes against women and children - gaps and challenges' .
