Imphal, December 08 2011: Like in other parts of the globe, Andro Kendra Handicapped Welfare Association observed World Disabled Day at Yairipok Top Chingtha today.

Distribution of blankets to 200 persons with disabilities by Tulihal Zilla Parishad Member Nilakamal and Andro AC MLA Th Shyamkumar was the highlight of the observance.

Besides donating Rs 1 lakh for welfare activities of persons with disabilities of the Assembly constituency, the MLA also declared that old age pension would be provided to 52 elderly citizens with disabilities.

Meanwhile, district Social Welfare Office, Thoubal in collaboration with NGOs organised various events at different places of the district to commemorate World Disable Day.

The week-long observance on the theme 'Together for a Better World for all including persons with disabilities in development' concluded at DC, Thoubal office complex today.
