AOL to host Open House on mental health

Imphal, October 08 2024: Keeping in mind the rising trend of mental health issues in Manipur, the Art of Living (AOL) is organising an Open House on Mental Health & Hygiene on the occasion of the World Mental HealthDay on October 10, 2024 .

According to a release issued by AOL, renowned doctor and CMD of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Dr Kh Palin will deliver the keynote address at the event to be held at the Art of Living Happiness Centre, located in Keishamthong.

Experts from the AOL will also share mental health and hygiene tips and techniques.

The event which will be held from 4 pm to 5.30 pm is open to all and is a free event.

Dr Romeo Meetei, a faculty member of AOL, said, "Mental health is one of the greatest challenges the world is facing today.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already warned that the impending global mental health crisis could be more devastating than even the COVID-19 pandemic.

This scary narrative isn't a false alarm and we need to prepare ourselves to cope with the challenges" .

"In the context of Manipur, the danger signs are even more worrying.

One of the biggest collateral damages of the ongoing upheaval in Manipur, besides the insurmountable loss of lives and properties, is going to be its impact on the mental health conditions of our population.

The prolonged conflict is taking a big toll on the larger public, irrespective of whether they are directly affected by the conflict or not", he explained.

Notably, the idea behind the Open House is to spread awareness about mental health and hygiene and help people equip themselves with some basic coping mechanisms.
