Attacker's daughter clarifies

Imphal, October 08 2015: Daughter of Md Khomei of Lilong Haoreibi Athoukhong Mamang Leikai, whose house has been burnt down by locals after a violent scuffle, has claimed that they have been victimised due to a rumour.

It may be mentioned that the house of Md Khomei (62) of Lilong Haoreibi Athoukhong Mamang Leikai was set on fire by locals after he allegedly attacked Md Tajuddin (35) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam Maning with a machete on October 6 night.

Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Md Khomei's daughter Subhana Begum said that she has been staying at her parental house since 2008 after the death of her husband.

She alleged that Md Tajuddin is not a man of good reputation and he had been picked up by the members of Anjuman Islah-e-Muaashrah for stealing vehicle in the past.

She also alleged that the man was also involved in a rape case some months back in Yairipok.

Subhana said that at around 6.30 pm on October 6, Md Tajuddin came to their house with an unknown person and knocked their door.

As they did not open the door, he went away from there.

Later in the night, Md Tajuddin came to the farm hut, where Subhana's father Md Khomei was staying and locked from outside.

The farm hut is located near the house of Subhana's house.

Irritated and suspicious over the conduct of Md Tajuddin, Md Khomei broke the lock and followed Md Tajuddin, she said.

When Md Khomei enquired why he was locked from outside, Md Tajuddin allegedly tried to attack Md Khomei with a gun.

Md Khomei tried to defend himself and Md Tajuddin was injured in the neck in the scuffle, she said.
