Parents of prime suspect remanded to custody

Parents of Md Arish, the alleged boyfriend of the minor girl who died at RIMS recently have been remanded to 5 days police custody.
The parents identified as Md Sikander and Majida Begum were arrested on September 6 and they were produced before the Court yesterday for police remand.
Imphal West Women Police Station has so far arrested six persons in connection with the case.
It may be mentioned that the minor girl, who reportedly was called out of her house on the pretext of eloping by her alleged boyfriend (Md Arish) on September 1, went missing only to be found unconscious the next morning.
She was brought to RIMS ICU Ward where she died on September 3.Earlier on September 2, police first arrested Md Arish Khan in connection with the case and he was remanded to seven days police custody till September 9 .
Further on September 4, three more suspects identified as Md Salim Khan (21), Md Noor Mohamad (20) and Md Feji @ Mohamad (22) were arrested after they reportedly surrendered before the police.
Special Judge POCSO Imphal West had also remanded them to 5 days police custody till September 9 .
On the other hand, OC Women Police Station has appealed to the family members and relatives to come forward and claim the body of the minor girl at RIMS mortuary.
The body has been lying at the mortuary since September 3 and it has started decomposing.
It is becoming hazardous to the surrounding and disturbing the routine services of RIMS morgue during the pandemic.
In case, family members and relatives fail to claim the body within 72 hours, it will be disposed of after the stipulated period according to the law in the interest of the public, said police.
Meanwhile, Duty Magistrate Imphal West has remanded a 37-year-old man identified as Mansoor Alam to 4 days police custody for allegedly publishing an audio recording on social media site(s) which "insulted the modesty of the deceased minor girl" .
Mansoor Alam, a resident of Kairang Mayai Leikai was arrested yesterday after MK Sofi, convener of MMWO Women Wing filed a complaint with the Women Police Station.
He had allegedly uploaded a recording (audio) on social media with the intention to insult the modesty of the deceased minor girl.
He was produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West yesterday and remanded to police custody till September 10 .
