DEO Kangpokpi convenes meetings to take stock of election preparedness

Kangpokpi, April 08 2024:
District Election Officer (DEO) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kangpokpi, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS today convened and chaired a security coordination meeting with Paramilitary Personnel, District Police and District Election team at LNC Hotel, Kangpokpi district.
The meeting reviewed the poll preparations to ensure that the first phase voting for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 is conducted in a free, fair, transparent and in smooth manner on April 19, 2024 .
Later in the evening, the DEO/DC Kangpokpi chaired a meeting of all the Nodal Officers of the District Election team and District Level Officers at the DC Conference Hall.
During the meeting, the DEO sought information on various aspects related to the upcoming election.
Detailed discussions were held on web casting, transportation arrangements, availability of manpower, deployment of medical staff and police personnel, as well as the dispersal process of polling personnel for three Assembly Constituencies namely 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu (ST).
The DEO also emphasized the need to set up separate counters for each constituency during the dispersal process to ensure a smooth and efficient voting process.
Meanwhile, the training for the Micro Observers and Postal Ballot team was conducted today at two different halls at the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi district.
The Postal Ballot team was trained by S Plim Reikhenamai (SDO, Island and Lhungtin) on various crucial aspects and insights of the Postal Ballot voting system.
The training session was essential in order to ensure a smooth and efficient handling of the postal ballots during the upcoming elections.
The team was given a detailed understanding of the entire process, including the procedures for issuing and receiving postal ballots.
On the other hand, a separate training session was conducted for the Micro Observers, who play a critical role in overseeing the entire election process.
They were provided with in-depth knowledge and practical training on their roles and responsibilities.
The training for Micro Observer was imparted by Lamminlal Simte (Deputy DEO/SDO T Waichong) and Paotinsei Kipgen (SDO/ERO, 51-Saitu) .
