Bishnupur, February 08 2024:
Loumee Sinmi Apun Lup (LOUSAL) Bishnupur district has urged the State Government to release the Rs 38.6 crore crop compensation package for farmers affected by the ethnic violence in the State as approved by the Union Government by February 10, 2024 .
A press release by the secretary LOUSAL Bishnupur district cautioned that it will take up intense form of agitation along with the farmers if the Government fails to fulfil their demands within the given timeline.
The farmers' body of the district also appealed to the authorities concerned to disperse the pending seeds and fertilizers to alleviate the hardships faced by the farmers due to the ongoing tense situation in the State.
Lastly, LOUSAL Bishnupur district also pledged to support the initiatives taken up by Cocomi Farmers Wing Group in the larger interest of the farmers in the State.
It may be noted that the farmers mainly in the foothills and peripheral regions of the State are unable to take up farming activities ever since the outbreak of ethnic violence since May 3, 2023 due to the atrocities of Kuki militants and sporadic firings by them upon the fields.
