KAPECON conducts public meeting

The Kanglei People's Confederation (KAPECON) conducted a public meeting at Oinam Sawombung Ireima Laibung in Thoubal district today inviting the local populace to express their opinion on the current situation in the State.
As per a press release issued by KAPECON, the meeting was attended by members of Oinam Sawombung Meira Paibi, Oinam Sawombung Youth Development Committee and Ireima Ima Lai Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Elangbam Ranita, secretary, Oinam Sawombung Meira Paibi stated that in order to bring the conflict to an end, a large-scale public movement needs to be launched under a common leadership.
Oinam Sawombung Meira Paibi president Oinam Saroj ini urged the CSOs in Imphal to unite while reasoning that without the leaders combining their forces, the people cannot be united.
Meanwhile, Oinam Manisana, secretary, OSYDC Club opined that some inimical forces consistently seek to destroy the unity among the Meiteis.
Highlighting the need to expose these elements, he also spoke about the impact of the unrest in Myanmar on the State.
OSYDC Club president Asem Deben underscored the need for peoples' leaders to be sincere and be imbibed with a sacrificial spirit.
If the Indian Government cannot safeguard Manipur, it is time to put forward the demand to protect it ourselves, he asserted.
Lastly, Oinam Dinesh, secretary, Ireima Lai Committee spoke about the lack of opportunities for the common people to voice their opinions on such serious matters.
