Private practices of doctors concern IPAK

The Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK), Manipur has urged the doctors employed by the State Government as well as by the private hospitals to earnestly discharge their duties only from the hospitals they are employed.
Opening private clinics by Government doctors and treating patients in private hospitals have become a trend which in fact resulted in various case of carelessness and negligence while treating patients in Government hospitals, said a statement issued by IPAK.
According to Medical Council of India, doctors employed in Government hospitals are not allowed to work in any other medical clinics or hospitals.
However, Government doctors have been setting schedules to treat patients at their designated hospitals, individual medical clinics and private hospitals, said the statement.
IPAK said it will take up action against any Government doctors if found violating the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
The statement also appealed to the general public to inform the association in case any doctor employed by the State Government is found to be working in private clinics or hospitals.
