AK Mirabai distributes Old Age Pension money

Imphal, April 07 2015 : Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai gave away pension money to some beneficiaries of Old Age Pension Scheme from Imphal West and Imphal East on Tuesday.

Rs 4,800 each was given to the beneficiaries by the minister in her office here.

The pension amount was for two years ending in the month of February 2015.Under the Old Age Pension Scheme Rs 200 is given to every beneficiary monthly.

Briefing the media persons, AK Mirabai said all old age pensioners get their money through their bank accounts and added that still many of them are yet to open personal bank accounts.

She informed that pension money for all beneficiaries in Imphal West and Imphal East would be distributed on April 10 at the 1st Manipur Rifles ground and for other districts the distribution will be done at all the district headquarters on the same day.

The minister, however, said that it was mandatory to open bank account by every beneficiary and added that distribution of the pension amount in cash was temporary.

She informed that distribution of pension money in cash to beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Old Pension Scheme would also be started soon.

Social Welfare Director Rangitabali Waikhom and District Social Welfare officers were also present at the event.
