Former JNU students of Manipur protest

Former Manipur students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have come out strongly against the attack carried out by an unidentified mob on the varsity's students and teachers in the night of January 5 .
Speaking to media persons during a sit in protest organised by JNU Alumni Manipur at the bus stand inside Manipur University Campus today afternoon, one of the members Dr Homen Thangjam lamented that times are changing for the worse in today's society and political manipulation is being felt in the educational institutes and universities which should be places of learning and knowledge.
Stating that fascist forces can never gain foothold on the educational institutions, Dr Homen Thangjam said that the alumni members stand in solidarity with the students of JNU.
The protesters also held placards containing slogans like 'JNU is bleeding: Unite..Rise..Resist', 'We are with you JNU: Down with State sponsored goondaism', 'Incompetent JNU VC must resign', 'Shame on Delhi police', 'Save public education', etc.
It may be recalled that armed mob, suspected to be ABVP members, broke into JNU campus at Delhi and launched an attack on the students and teachers on the night of January 5 .
20 students were injured during the attack.
