Imphal, November 06 2012:
The Border Area Villages Association (BAVA), Ukhrul has urged the BSNL authority to look into the alleged idle mobile towers set up at strategic locations in Ukhrul district at the earliest.
In a statement, BAVA pointed out that the BSNL mobile tower at Khamason (Ukhrul Block) has been remaining idle since 2008 at the village's Church premises when its services are needed by people of the area.
Some equipments are lying scattered at the proposed BSNL mobile tower site at Razai Khunou (Chingai Block) since three years back though nothing tangible has been done for making the tower functional, alleged the BAVA statement.
Although the tower at Chingai was activated this year, there is frequent disturbances in accessing signal from the tower.
At the least, subscribers received signal only for about 2/3 hours in a day, added the statement.
Maintaining that BAVA would monitor the action of the BSNL authority in this regard, the association has also urged the authority concerned to do the needful immediately.
