Imphal, May 06 2015 :
Although the State Government has put immense effort to bring back those who had joined the underground outfits to the mainstream promising provisions of proper and secure accommodation, most of these promised provisions fail to reach majority of the surrendered UG cadres.
Wahengbam Premananda who had entered into the Memorandum of Understanding with the State Government and the Centre in April 2013 said majority of cadres who surrendered before the State Govt including PLA, UNLF and KYKL cadres in April 2013 are yet to get any of the promised provisions.
He was addressing media persons at a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today.
A monthly stipend of Rs 5000 under the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy that was assured by the State Government at the time of entering into the MoU has not been disbursed till date, Premananda stated.
As such, it has become hard for the surrendered cadres to manage their daily expenses, he added.
A memorandum has been submitted each to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, DGPs and SPs appealing to redress their grievances at the earliest.
