Stage set for Kakching municipal by-election

Preparation for the upcoming Kakching Municipal Council by-election on September 8, has completed, asserted Th Chitra, Secretary, State Election Commission, Manipur.
Speaking to reporters at her Lamphel office, Th Chitra stated that the by-election will be held to fill the seat of Mayanglambam Satarupi, former Councillor of Kakching Municipal Council Ward no 7, who passed away recently.
The voting will start from 8am till 4pm while the counting will be done on September 15 at 8am in SDO office.
Voters of ward no 7 will cast the votes in three different polling stations under the vigilance of a presiding officer, five polling personnels and security forces.
Th Chitra added that if required more officials and security forces will be deployed.
During the by-election, Thoubal DC will be the District Municipal election officer while Th Chitaranjit, Kakching SDO, will hold the place of a returning Officer.
Th Chitra while urging for a peaceful by-election on the scheduled day, she also appealed the voters to step out and cast their valuable votes.
INC candidate Moirangthem Lokendra Singh and BJP candidate Sanadharma will contest in the forthcoming Kakching Municipal Council Ward no 7 which has altogether 2452 voters.
