All five accused were produced before the Court along with a prayer for remanding them in judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
During interrogation in custody, it was revealed that a week before the commission of the crime, Amubi, Md Abdul Wahid Khan, Md Sunir Khan and K Ibomcha Singh met at Ima Keithel and hatched a plan to kill Kshetrimayum Sumita and acting on their plan, they got together at 11.30 am of June 24 at Ima Keithel and finalized the murder plan.
Md Abdul Wahid Khan and Md Sunir brought the Maruti Van, which they used in the crime, while Ibomcha and Amubi called out the victim from her house.
Accordingly, all of the people met at Konung Mamang and thereafter Md Sunir drove the van with Md Wahid on the front passenger seat while Amubi and the victim got seated at the back-seat.
Ibomcha drove the victim's two wheeler and followed the van.
It was further revealed they drove towards Eco Park where they attempted to murder the victim but they failed to get the opportunity and as such, they headed towards Imphal Ngariyan road seeking a suitable place for killing Sumita.
After they drove down the road, they found an isolated location where they stopped their vehicle and murdered the victim.
Md Sunir strangulated the victim from behind while Md Wahid muffled her with his hands inside the vehicle but Amubi fled when they began strangulating the victim.
However, they caught up with Amubi an picked up the body and took a U turn from the area.
After driving some distance, they met Konthoujam Ibomcha who was following them on the two wheeler and Ibomcha suggested them not to take the same route again, as there were many police frisking points in the direction and as such, he directed them to follow him to a safer location to dispose the victim's body.
It was further revealed that Amubi got off from the van and boarded the moped and led the way for the van and drove towards Thiyam Chingjin road.
Upon reaching the isolated area, they stopped their vehicles and Md Sunir, Md Wahid and K Ibomcha dragged down the body and placed it in the middle of the road.
Consequently, as per their plan, Md Sunir and Md Wahid drove over the victim with the van to make it look like an accident after which both of them drove away in the same van.
On the other hand, Ibomcha and Amubi got on the moped and on their way back, Amubi dropped Ibomcha and proceeded towards Andro forest gate where she reported that an accident had occurred.
The IO submitted that accused Husband Indrajit along with wife Amubi frequently visited various place where his wife lent out money and as such, he has knowledge of the financial transactions, which is one of the main reasons behind developing the idea of murdering the victim and as such, prayed for remanding all of them in judicial custody.
The Court also heard the submission of the husband who claimed to have no knowledge about the crime.
After hearing both sides, and going through the case records, the Court remanded all five persons to judicial custody till July 19 .
