Women Action for development condemns

Women Action for development has expressed their strong condemnation on the life threats to a Social Activist, Panti Gonmei, by unidentified persons on June, 2014 at her resident, Tarung, a press statement issued by the programme in-charge stated.
Panti Gonmei is a human rights defender who has been working for the cause of rape victims, children and other human rights abuse related activities, fighting against injustice and against the violation of human rights in the State.
Attacks on human rights defenders of Manipur has been most frequent in the state.
The organization, therefore, expressing disappointment over the State Government's negligence, has condemned these frequent attacks on Human rights activists.
The organisation also strongly condemned the Ukhrul incident.
They further appealed State government, especially the armed forces, to avoid using arms that can cause death of innocents in the future.
The organisation further extended their heartfelt sorrow and grief to the deceased families.
