Thoubal, July 04 2016:
Yairipok High School (aided) has decried the State Government's decision to construct a power sub-station inside the school campus, our correspondent reports.
The school staff (teaching and non teaching), in a meeting presided by the school's Headmaster L Ibopishak Singh today resolved to launch different forms of protests in case the construction works are not stopped at the earliest.
The school staff while condemning the construction of the power station inside the school campus said that the permission to build the power sub-station inside the school campus was granted by few members of the managing committee without the knowledge of the staff.
The school staff have also sought help from all the CSOs concerned in stopping the construction works and making education a disturbance free zone.
Mention may be made, the JAC formed against the Construction at Yairipok High School had on June 23, imposed a ban on construction works of the power sub-station at the school.
The JAC also imposed a boycott on the school's Headmaster, Chairman and Yairipok Municipal Council Chairperson for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) on the construction and also demanded withdrawal of the NOC.
On the other hand, YMC Chairperson, Councillors, Members, local MLAs, clubs, organisations and associations in a meeting held on June 26 had agreed to let the construction works continue as an NOC had already been issued.
