ZML appeals on road closure in Ukhrul District

Imphal, July 04 2011: The road construction between Nongdam Tangkhul and Itham Tangkhul Junction in Ukhrul district under PMGSY has been suspended for the last several days without any reason, thereby stopping all vehicular movement along the said route, chairman of ZML Themreingam A Shimray has informed in a statement.

The chairman further informed that with vehicular movement in the area remaining affected, people of the region have started facing shortage of food and other essential commodities even as sick patients who need to be hospitalised at Imphal are unable to proceed because of the landslides.

The contractor has been apprised with the plights of the people, but no action has been taken, the chairman lamented, and drew immediate attention of the authority concerned for giving necessary instruction to the contractor for clearing the landslide and proper execution of the road construction work.
