Peaceful poll held Churachandpur

Polling for six booths in Churachandpur district took place peacefully on Thursday amidst tight security.
Pollings in these stations could not be held on June 1 since the personnel could not reach there on time.
Polling took place at 4/5 Nungsai LP School, 4/6 Santing Government LP School, 4/7 Santing Chonhchin AOP School, 4/8 Saichang LP School, 4/9 Lailong (S) LP School and 4/12 Kwanpin Mission School from 7 am to 4:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has issued notification to conduct re-poll to as many as 72 booths on June 6 in all the six ADCs.
The Commission notified that fresh polls will be taken on June 6 at the 72 booths of Chandel, Senapati, Ukhrul, Sadar Hills, Tamenglong and Churachandpur ADCs as it has declared the polls held at these booths on June 1 to be void.
Disruption of poll, damage of ballot boxes and polling materials, booth capturing and proxy voting had marred the polling, Commission Secretary Th Chitra Devi said in a statement.
Repoll will be conducted at six DCCs in Chandel, 11 in Senapati, four in UKhrul, 10 in Sadar Hills, eight in Tamenglong and six in Churachandpur, the statement said.
