Imphal, February 04 2025:
Stating that people of Uyumpok are supervising the proper construction of the Bailey bridge at Uyumpok Litanmakhong, the Uyumpok Development Committee has urged any organisation from beyond the village to refrain from attempting to take credit for the bridge construction.
Speaking to media persons at the foot of Uyumpok bridge today, Yumlembam Jogendro, vice president, Uyumpok Development Committee informed that owing to the pandemic and the subsequent eruption of violence, the construction of the bridge was delayed as transporting the key components of the bridge posed a big challenge.
With the help of Uyumpok Development Committee, Friends Union Club Uyumpok, Uyumpok Meira Paibi and Arambai Tenggol Unit 44 Uyumpok, the construction of the bridge resumed swiftly.
When the bridge was nearly complete, some technical issues were discovered and the bridge was reassembled to make the necessary corrections with the help of the relevant State department.
Amidst the ongoing reassembly/relaunching of the bridge under the supervision of top officials from the RD & PR Department and the local people, an organisation urged the State Government to look into the condition of the bailey bridge.
Stating that such statements can paint the State officials engaged in constructing the bridge in a poor light before the locals of Uyumpok or cause friction among the residents, Yumlembam Jogendro has urged any organisations concerned with the bailey bridge to contact the aforementioned four organisations beforehand.
