Farmers' training programme organised

Ukhrul, October 03 2023: The Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) in collaboration with the Manipur Organic Mission Agency ( MOMA) organised a one day training programme on 'Pest and Disease Management' at Marem village Community hall, under Chingai block Ukhrul.

The training programme was held for farmers registered under Sivathei Farmers Producer Company Ltd of Ukhrul district under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) Phase-III .

Speaking as the resource person of the training programme, Dr Solei Luiram, Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ukhrul enlightened the farmers on preventive measures against plant diseases and pest attacks.

Stating that pests and plant disease management has become a major challenge for farmers in Ukhrul district, he appealed to the farmers to take up multiple cropping and similar measures to prevent plant diseases.

The farmers should also clear weeds and unwanted growths to ensure that the plants thrive well.

The training programme was also attended by the District Coordinator DSSS, Y Solomon and staff P Honpam and Leishingam Luikham.

Altogether 36 farmers of Marem cluster of two FIGs Darngayi and Vavarang in Ukhrul participated in the training programme.
