As the country prepares to observe its 65th Independence Day, the State's southern district of Churachandpur has as well set into motion preparations to celebrate the day with a distinctive theme - Clean and Green Churachandpur.
The district administration has on Friday convened district level officers meet to discuss the formats for preparations and accordingly allocated Government departments of their share in the work load to make the celebration a meaningful one to the people.
Six stalls each on Clean as well as on Green will be erected at the celebration venue one day in advance, said a source.
A massive exercise to plant tree saplings along the catchment are Lanva rivulet will also be organized on August 14 with the help of schools and DLOs, it added.
From 5.30pm of the Independence Day eve, there will be display of fire-works besides several other programs including that of honouring best performing institutions.
The Transport department and Traffic police have also been assigned to take up traffic awareness campaigns during the celebration.
These extensive preparations were planed over and above the normal practices of the Independence Day parade, erecting gates along the main highway and setting up of departmental stores.
