Imphal, January 03 2025: Referring to the recent capping of airfares announced by the Chief Minister on New Year's eve, Athoubasinggi Liklam Thiba Lup, Manipur (ALTLM) has sought similar arrangement for the Imphal-Silchar flight route.

Notably, the Chief Minister had informed that Alliance Air will operate on Imphal-Kolkata, Imphal-Guwahati and Imphal-Dimapur routes twice a week and the airfares will be capped at Rs 5000, with any excess to be borne by the Manipur Government.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference held today at Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club, Laimayum Shantikumar Sharma, advisor, ALTLM welcomed the Chief Minister's initiative of capping airfares at a time when security concerns continue to deter the public from travelling along the National Highways.

Drawing the Government's attention to the Imphal-Silchar flight route which connects Jiribam with Imphal, the ALTLM advisor urged the Chief Minister to reduce and cap the airfare and also to increase the number of flights along this route.
