Chief Minister N Biren has assured that a high level team would investigate reports of machinery breaking down in several districts and units of Industries Department not long after they were purchased.
Replying to a cut motion raised by K Meghachandra in the course of discussing Demand No 21 (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) in the State Assembly today, N Biren stated that a high level team would investigate the matter and see if sub-standard machines were purchased.
Status reports of all sub-standard machines would be collected and all non-functional machines would be repaired.
Moreover, purchase of fraudulent purchase of machines would be rectified after investigation, Biren said.
He said that local contractors are not eligible for construction of the proposed concrete roads of estimated cost Rs 3500 crore.
Earlier, there was a big issue because of purchasing sub-standard machinery at JNIMS, Biren said.
In order to avoid such incidents, the Government has been making all efforts to control the quality of all projects/works, he added.
Cold storages have been opened at different places under Horticulture Department.
A cold storage facility run by MOMA under Horticulture Department at Nillakuthi Food Park has been functioning well, Biren told the House.
He said that the Government has started providing yarns to weavers at reduced prices or free of cost.
An amount of Rs 149 crore has been sanctioned for construction of a market which would be shared by vendors of all communities, he said.
