Imphal, June 02 2011: An amount of Rs 15,000 each have been distributed to beneficiaries of four farmers' organisations of Imphal East district.

The financial assistance was provided at a Credit Awareness cum Disbursement Camp organised today at Kangla Sangomshang community hall under the sponsorship of Manipur Rural Bank, Lamlong branch.

The beneficiaries included 20 farmers of Iril Progressive Farmers' Club (Kangla Sangomshang), 22 members of Angom Leikai Farmers' club (Khurai Angom Leikai), 42 members of Lainingthou Farmers' Club (Pungdongbam Mayai Leikai) and 20 farmers of Kangla Siphai Progressive Farmers' Club (Kangla Siphai) .

The camp was held with Officer in-charge of NABARD Regional Office Manipur Namlekar, Manipur Rural Bank Chairman Umesh Prasad Singh and Kangla Sangomshang Community Hall Management Committee chairman Th Ibocha Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Namlekar advised the farmers to work with cohesion to achieve higher productivity.

Pointing out that it is highly essential to abide and follow rules and regulations of the Bank, he also assured to provide all possible assistance to the farmers based on their sincerity and workmanship.
