Imphal, April 02 2018:
A team of the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) today held a meeting with Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu on the demand of implementing the 7th Pay with respect to State Government employees and pensioners.
To the MGSF team's enquiry whether the State Government has adopted any concrete decision on the demand for implementation of the 7th Pay, Dr Suresh Babu said that he took charge of the post of Chief Secretary only today and he has no thorough knowledge of the works done by the fitment committee.
Saying that he would discuss the matter with fitment committtee members and officials concerned of Finance Department tomorrow, the Chief Secretary invited the MGSF team for another meeting on April 4.Notably, the MGSF earlier announced that they would launch indefinite cease work from April 2 if the 7th Pay is not implemented before this day.
But the proposed cease work strike has been kept on hold following today's meeting with the Chief Secretary and the next meeting scheduled on April 4 .
The MGSF may take a decision whether the cease work strike would be launched or not based on the outcome of the April 4 meeting, said one of its functionaries.
Nonetheless, an indefinite cease work strike spearheaded by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has been going on since March 22 on the same demand for implementation of the 7th Pay.
