Kakching, December 01 2024:
Demanding unconditional release of eleven persons arrested by police on different charges, CSOs of Kakching staged a sit-in protest at Kakching Keithel today.
Speaking at the protest, a representative of the CSOs, Sh Tamphamani said that, if the Government failed to release the eleven persons arrested by police including the convenor of Langsai Thouna by December 3, the CSOs will take it as an invitation for a people's movement in Kakching to disrupt the peaceful environment of Kakching town.
She continued that the four persons were arrested following a people movement that took place after hearing the news of six civilians being killed by Kuki militants at Jiribam, and another 7 people were arrested during an agitation demanding unconditional release of previously arrested four individuals.
If the Government and police department fail to meet the demands of the CSOs by December 3, the CSOs along with the public of Kakching will intensify agitation, added Tamphamani.
