CM leaves Imphal to meet Union Home Minister on Naga issue

The Governor of Manipur has appointed Gaikhangam as Deputy Chief Minister of the State with immediate effect.
According to a notification issued by Chief Secretary DS Poonia late evening today, the current portfolio of Gaikhangam (i.e.Home) would remain the same.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is leaving Imphal tomorrow to meet Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in the backdrop of possible inking of an agreement between the Government of India and the Naga rebel group, NSCN-IM.
Shinde had earlier intimated Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh over NSCN-IM's proposal and the stand of Union Government.
However, Ibobi was reported to have flatly declined from giving any sort of assurance on the issue without knowing the points on which NSCN (IM) and the Union Government have come to an understanding.
This is the second time that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would be meeting Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to find out the official proposal made by NSCN-IM for settling the decades old vexed Naga issue.
According to sources in Manipur Pradesh Congress Congress (MPCC), Ibobi would also be taking part a Congress Workers' Rally scheduled to be taken out at the National capital on November 4 .
Indian National Congress (INC) is organizing a rally for all the Congress MLAs and workers of all States at Ram Leela Maidan in protest against the corruption charges leveled against the party by BJP, Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal.
Besides Chief Minister Ibobi, MPCC President Gaikhangam and all the Congress MLAs, workers would be taking part in the rally, the source disclosed, adding that for that some of Congress Ministers have already left for Delhi while Gaikhangam along with some other party MLAs would be leaving Imphal for Delhi tomorrow at the head of a large number of Congress workers.
The source in MPCC further informed that from Delhi, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would be leaving for Australia on November 11 and is expected to return on 24 of this month.
During the absence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Home Minister Gaikhangam, Revenue Minister Th Devendra will be in-charge of the Chief Minister.
